# Overview

The Awakening is a \~2-month event (Monday 10th August - Monday 12th October), set in the current Gigaverse game as you know it.

{% hint style="success" %}
The Awakening will be the most significant in-game event in Gigaverse to date, and the last event within “Gigaverse, the game as you currently know it”.

Once The Awakening finishes, there will be a brief period of downtime, before the “new, long term version of Gigaverse” launches:[Gigaverse Online](https://x.com/playgigaverse/status/2083197053958599021).
{% endhint %}

Your goal during The Awakening is simple: Collect as many Cores as you can. To collect Cores you’ll need to:

* Progress in a brand new dungeon & new fishing pond (both have new mechanics & challenges for you to discover, and both use consumables craftable using ROM faction materials)
* Convert resources received from ROMs & Giglings & relic armor
* Complete weekly & daily quests & item turn-in offers

& more. To maximize the number of Cores you receive through gameplay, you'll need to be juiced. Juiced noobs will receive 4x the amount of Cores.

### Progression & gear:

To support your progression in The Awakening, you will be able to level up your skills through your earned experience in the new dungeon & fishing pond, as well as by crafting new gear (rods, lures, charms, head & body gear) using items you can already find in Gigaverse.

Only gear crafted in the The Awakening zone can be used in the new dungeon & new fishing pond.

### More about Cores:

When The Awakening launches, you will enter the forbidden woods for the first time. There you will meet a mysterious new character who tasks you with one very simple objective: **collect as many Cores as you can.**

Cores are an item uniquely available only during The Awakening, and they streamline all your progression and items to date into a single unified goal.

At the end of The Awakening, the number of Cores you’ve collected will inform your rank in The Hall of Noobs.

### The Hall of Noobs:

The Hall of Noobs memorializes & honors top performing players across The Awakening, and beyond.

Your overall rank in the Hall of Noobs will be dictated by your Cores, and there will be separate rankings based upon your medals, and your holdings of key ecosystem assets.

Moving forward, the Hall of Noobs will become the single source of truth for long term player alignment with the Gigaverse ecosystem as a whole.

### Prizes & Rewards:

The Awakening kicks off with a $20,000 USDC starting prize pot. In addition to this starting prize pot, 50% of Giga Juice purchases & 50% of marketplace fees & 50% of vendor sales generated over the course of the event, will be added to the pot.

The final prize pot will be distributed among players who collect a minimum number of Cores by the end of the event, via gacha boxes. These gacha boxes will additionally contain unique cosmetic items.

### Carry-over Items & Account Details:

At the end of The Awakening, every player will receive a rank in the Hall of Noobs, and will be able to carry over the following remaining items from their existing inventories / accounts, in to Gigaverse Online:

* Giga Juice balance
* GIGABIT balance
* Cosmetics / skins (excluding those that drop in the dungeon)
* SBTs / account-bound-items
* Dung & butterflies
* Gigacha coins
* Others: TBD

Carry-over items will get an in-game indicator and be marked as **eternal**.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.gigaverse.io/the-awakening/overview.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
